Papal visit Luanda - Pope Benedict XVI affirmed on March 23th, in Luanda, that, nevertheless the resistance and the obstacles, the Angolan people intend to build its future in the path of pardon, justice and solidarity. When speaking at international airport “4 of February”, where he received farewell compliments from the Chief of Angolan State José Eduardo dos Santos, the Sovereign Pontiff showed himself happy for “having closely known a courageous population determined in be born again”. He asked that the fair accomplishment of the basic aspirations to the most needed population constitutes the main concern of those that occupy public functions, since their intention is to act on the received mission, and not for themselves but in sight of common good. “Our heart cannot be in peace, while we see brothers suffer by lack of food, work, house and other basic goods”, referred the religious one appealing “solidarity between the generations, countries and continents, that each time more originates an equitable share of the land wealth amongst all men”. To the Africans, particularly to the Angolans, the Sovereign Pontiff asked for courage and guided them to make peace progress, fulfilling pardon gestures and working for the national reconciliation, “so that never violence prevails over dialog, fear and the loss of heart over confidence, rancour over fraternal love”. On the other hand, Benedict XVI said to be “grateful to God for having found a Church alive and, nevertheless the difficulties, full of enthusiasm, that knew how to carry its and others cross, testifying before all the salvation force of the evangelic message”. The Catholic Church, in Angola, continues to announce that the time of hope has arrived, pledging itself in the pacification of the spirits and inviting to the exercise of a fraternal charity that knows how to open to the favourable reception of all, in respect for the ideas and feelings of each one, has added. |
