Efforts for stability and freedom call attention of the Pope

Luanda - Pope Benedict XVI recognized on March 20 th, in Luanda, the efforts of the Angolan Government, after 27 years of the war and fights that devastated the country, to guarantee stability and freedom, fruits of the achieved peace.
“You are the workers and witnesses of an Angola rising after 27 years of war and mourning that has devastated the country. The peace started to launch roots bringing with it the fruits of stability and freedom”, affirmed Benedict XVI, when giving a speech in a meeting held in Luanda with authorities of the Angolan State, religious Entities, of the Civil Society and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Angola.
In its intervention, after a visit of courtesy to the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, Pope Benedict XVI enhanced “the concrete” efforts of the Government to re-establish infrastructures, recover the basic institutions for the progress and well-being of society, made the hope of this Nation citizens be reborn.
To support this hope, he said, the Government has fulfilled some initiatives, with the aid of multilateral agencies that exceed particular interests, working in the perspective of common good, pointing as examples, the formation of professors, doctors and public officers who with integrity and devotion serve the respective more needy human communities.
“Wants God to bless and to multiply all this will and initiatives that you have been doing”, affirmed, considering, before, rewarding the confidence of the President of the Republic on the action of the Catholic Church for “the good of Angola as a loved Nation”.
