VISA INFORMATION
 
 
 
The general visa information to those who may be planning to travel to Angola on Consular visa in the near term. Documentation required for:
 
DIPLOMATIC AND OFFICIAL VISA
  • Two Photo Passport.
  • Allow 48 hours upon receipt of the Passport.
  • A verbal note from the Ministry of External Affairs. ( for Canadians Diplomatic Passport holders only ). For others, a letter from the applicant's embassy is required.
 
ORDINARY AND TRANSIT VISA
The ordinary visa takes up to 15 working days to process from the day that all required documents are received. For ordinary visa, the length of stay may not exceed 30 days.
  • All applicants must submit the following:
  • A passport valid for at least 6 months
  • An application form filled out in duplicate for all applicants
  • 2 recent passport photographs with the names on the back
  • Documentation or correspondence related to the purpose of travel
  • Photocopy of ticket and the first three pages of the applicant's valid passport
  • A certified cheque or money order payable to the Embassy of the Republic of Angola

  • A letter of invitation sent by an individual or institution to be contacted in Angola Photocopy of round trip ticket and the travel itinerary. Proof of means of subsistence while in Angola (Cdn$ 250) a day. ( Bank statement or letter from an employer sponsoring the travel normally is considered as a sufficient proof. )
 
WORK VISA / RESIDENCE VISA

Under current regulations, the local consular office has been authorized to process the Ordinary, Diplomatic and Work visas. The work visa must be initiated in the country of origin. The Consular Office must send the work visa request to the Foreign Migration Service (SME) in Angola for approval.

The processing time for a work visa takes at least 90 working days of its receipt. The work visa is valid for two years and multiple entries are permitted. The validity of the visa may not exceed the period of the contract. The additional requirements are listed below.

  • Two photographs
  • Medical statement of health including HIV test.
  • Copy of contract addressed to the Consular services duly signed by the representative of the firm or institution employing, hiring or sponsoring the trip, with the specific reference to the job to be performed by the applicant, the duration of the engagement and assuming full financial responsibility for the applicant. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade must authenticate it.
  • Statement agreeing to respect Angolan Laws, authenticated by a Public Notary.
  • Certification of no pending criminal authenticated by:
  • A certified cheque or money order payable to the Embassy of the Republic of Angola

AUTHENTICATION OF DOCUMENTS
  • The authentication of documents will be accepted under the following conditions:
  • All documents issued in Canada and intended to be used in the Republic of Angola, must be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
  • Documents from other countries will be accepted only once authenticated by the respective Embassies in Ottawa.
  • A charge will be applied according to the kind of document, paid in Money Order or Certified Cheque payable to the Embassy of the Republic of Angola is required.
 
APPLICATION BY MAIL:

Applications received by mail will take an extra day, if all documents are in order. Further mail applications should be sent with a stamped envelope or pre-paid Federal Express, DHL or Priority Post to return the documentation. The Embassy does not assume any responsibility for other form of return process. Please do not mix with the visa fee, the amount to pay the return of your documents.
