The National flag has two colors made use in two horizontal bands. The upper band is of color red-rubro and the inferior of black color and represents:
The bright Red - represents the blood shed by Angolans during the colonial operass i o n , the national struggle country.
Black color - The African Continent.
In the center there is a composition formed by a segment of a cog wheel, symbolizing the workers and industrial production, a machete, symbolizing the peasants, agricultural production and the armed struggle, and a star, symbolizing international solidarity and progress.
The cog wheel, the machete and the star are yellow, symbolizing the country's wealth.

The hashmark of the Republic of Angola is formed by a section of an dentated wheel and by a ramagem of maize, coffee and cotton, representing respectively the workers and the industrial production, the camponeses and the agricola production.
In the base of the set, it exists an opened book, symbol of the education and culture and the rising sun, meaning the new Country. To the center, it is placed a catana and a hoe, símbolizando the work and the beginning of the fight armed. To the top of a mountain it appears the star, symbol of international solidarity and the progress. |
